Practically there is no new development in architectural ideas because all the research in our universities take the form of mechanistic reductionist approach to knowledge. MyRA and other KPI requirements push scholars to write into Q1 Q2 scientific journals which mostly favour this kind of approach. The link below is a publication by The Bartlett, a top school in architectural study.
This is what research in humanities looks like. Essays from a newspaper compiled in a book. There is no problem statement, no methodological framework, results and analysis. We have been playing scientist game now that all papers look like scientific paper. I propose our publication should focus more on curated essays rather than 'scientific' paper. What happen to architectural ideas in Malaysia? Even the issue of identity is still a confused hodge podge among the most brilliant scholars. We slavishly try to mimick lab science that even then we are mocked for not being rigorous enough in our scientific approach.
The epistemological crisis in architecture should be addressed. The notion of nation building, pride in national identity can never be understood by cartesian worldview. The oppressive regime on knowledge output mechanism by KPT must be addressed. if we miss this now, there will be another 10 years before these can even be discussed again.
